Dinner: Quinoa, Turkey Kebab.

- Quinoa: garlic, cumin, chilly, curry leaves, onion, peas.
- Grilled Turkey kebab with Tamarine mayo
- Butter lettuce and arugula salad. Healthy, hi protein ....and tasty (if I may say so).

P.S a special thanks to my friend Kiran Joshi for the inspiration to play with Quinoa for the first time.

Green Beans, my way. Happy Thanksgiving

Photo

This is a totally vegetarian dish.

Beans: I like Chinese long beans. When they cook, they get ridges and like rigatoni, the sauce fills the crevasses. And I don't like boiling beans. They get waterlogged. So I cook them in the base vegetable broth with shallots and garlic that I'm going to use for my sauce.

Mushrooms: Used Shitake Mushrooms for texture. Roasted them. When they dry out, they soak up the sauce when you pull everything together. And browned vegetables always taste better.

Sauce: base vegetable stock, above, thyme, sherry, tons of black pepper, dijon mustard. Finish with half and half or cream and if you need it, thicken with a little corn starch dissolved in water. I cheat with the corn starch so I dont have to keep adding butter. The cream is rich enough.

Not shown here but for crunch, I will use Panko bread crumbs and parmesan and a pinch of pimenton for smokiness.

That's green beams, foofi-fied my way.

Happy thanksgiving to you and yours!

Nijiya Market in Mountain View has some really good fried tofu - a little goes a long way in soup with buckwheat noodles and fish cake.

Oh, Please. #foodblogger #foodie #marketing

Um, no, that's not the reason. Don't get me wrong - in spite of the hardcore foodie that I am, I think McD's fries can rival whats offered at most fancy schmansy restaurants. But I really wonder about where that line is between honest marketing, incomplete data and questionable claims. And more important, if the FDA rules really are strong enough.

This claim is something you could find on any item at your favorite health foods store or even an almost all organic joint such as Whole Foods.

As we talk about how social media and inbound marketing expect authentic voices and calls out trick messaging, will we ever see this kind of selective omission disappear?

Update: Comments rolling on Google Plus, here.
